David Gregory, born in Los Angeles CA in 1970 to Carolyn Surtees, an account manager, and Don Gregory a Film and TV producer, is Jewish.
Gregory was assigned to the press corps following George Bush in 2000. Bush had nicknamed Gregory "Stretch" because of his 6'5" height and "Dancing Man" because of his propensity to show his dancing moves. Since moving to the White House Press Corps. Gregory had been famed for his run-ins with the Bush administration's Press Secretaries.
On December 7, 2008 Gregory was named as the full time moderator for Meet the Press, the longest running News program in TV history. Gregory replaced the late Tim Russert who passed away earlier in 2008.
Gregory is married to former prosecutor Beth Wilkinson who he met during the coverage of the Oklahoma City Bombing. Wilkinson was a prosecutor on the case. They have 3 children, 2 sons and one daughter.
